SM 500 outpaced the Europe Champion Timbersport

A competition among lumberjacks organized by the Espelkamp Forestry School and entitled the ”Firewood Industry“  took place on the 5th of November 2008, welcoming several participants with different work equipments.

With the slogan ”Germany is looking for a Supersplitter“ Dirk Braun, the reigning Europe Champion of Timbersport faced a very special challenge: he appeared with a chopper and a chopping table contrary to the other competitors, who preferred to start their hydraulic splitters for the 3 mc of fire oak-wood that had to be split.

However, the weight lifter only came in second place. He was beat by Thomas von Behren who was 10 minutes faster. Thomas von Behren and his  SM 500 BGU Maschinen took first prize.  With his equipment, the chimneysweeper was able to split the log in 4 parts of the required measures in one fast operation. So, the Profi beat the slower competitors.

The firewood produced was sold after the competition and the takings of 500 € were donated to the School.
